"A Place To Learn...To Develop...To Become"

December 10, 2005

Our goal is to make this workshop (T.A.P. Collective) a place that will permit your personal development in a safe environment, where you can learn the craft of acting by doing. This requires that you commit to prescribed exercises on a regular basis. Your future results will be based on the time you spend in and on your development. To strengthen your ability as an actor we must focus on your "will", as nothing can come to fruition unless you "will" yourself, not only in the work as prescribed, but also to the consistent execution of the work.

These exercises include "Fourth Wall", "Lost Object", "Sensory Exploration", and "Independent Objective with Activity". Your work on these basic exercises and others as described in session will bring you to the heightened acting experience you desire. Let's do it! Share your work with others. Put prepared work up every week!

Beginning Januarry 2006, the last Monday of each month will be available for presentation of rehearsed scene work, structured improv and monologues as committed to at the beginning of the month. Scenes/monos/improvs are suggested/designed based on the needs of the participants at their current developmental stage.

Our start time was moved to 7PM to accommodate all involved and reduce late arrivals. Being on time is considerate to all participants. Please do your best.

REMEMBER: THIS WORK IS THE WAY TO STRENGTHEN THE WILL, IMAGINATION AND CONCENTRATION. Keep your eyes open to absorb life surrounding you, then use your new-found ability to recreate the experience. Every moment you have is a precious gift, not to be squandered!

To the current class: Please make the effort to find 15 private minutes daily to work sensory elements. Keep your being alive...listen to your inner-self...experience the moment. Don't procrastinate and YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT THE RESULTS!

Finally, all art has structure and a series of exercises designed to develop and condition the artist. Just as in training for music, dance and sports the training of the actor has structure designed to develop the instrument. All it takes is the artist's effort, desire, dedication and passion, as artistic growth is based on precisely those elements.
