Acting-Technique I
Instructor: Danielle Barry
This foundational course is designed to provide artistic and intellectual framework necessary for the further development in Acting Technique II. It is meant for the beginning actors as well as the experienced actor frustrated in attemps to improve the quality of their work. Through exercise, guided improvisation, monologue and purposeful theatre games students explore/experience essential elements such as relaxation, observation, imagination, concentration and sensory life while sharpening the senses, strengthening the will and learning to pursue objectives. The exercises developed by Uta Hagen and set forth in her book "A Challenge for the Actor" (required) are an essential part of class content. They will be supplemented with exploration of various techniques of Lee Strasberg and Sanford Meisner.
